Day 10 Monjo- Namche Bazar (3440m)
It’s becoming more and more of a struggle to get out of bed each morning as it gets colder and colder, it is that feeling of getting out of your nice warm cocoon which is your sleeping bag. Today we left at 08.00, we walked for an hour at a gentle gradient then crossed another cable bridge, on the other side it was steep uphill for over an hour, the majority of time we were walking up steps it was so steep. It eventually flattened out at a police checkpoint; again Aashman fed them the same line about us going to Everest BC. Beyond this was Namche Bazar at an altitude of 3340m. We had climbed roughly 500m in an hour.
Since arriving in Namche Bazar I’ve just been wandering looking at all the shops and purchased The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy from a second-hand bookshop and withdrew some more money, due to the fact that I had to purchase my TIMS card and the park entry fee (3000Rs), both of which I have already paid for (as part of the negotiations), not too impressed. At lunchtime an Australian girl (Katie) brought out a pack of cards so I asked to join in, I ended up chatting and playing cards with her and another family her and her mum were trekking with and I learnt a new game called 500 (similar to bridge). They were really nice friendly people.
